Verbs: the present tense you’ll actually use

A practical way to start using verbs without getting stuck in conjugation tables.

What matters most

Start with verbs that let you communicate immediately.

  • Verbs conjugate; start with είμαι (to be) and common everyday verbs.
  • Present tense gets you far.
Είμαι κουρασμένος.
Eímai kourasménos
I am tired.
Θέλω νερό.
Thélo neró
I want water.
Είμαι εδώ.
Eímai edó
I am here.
Δεν καταλαβαίνω.

I don't understand.
