Verbs: the present tense you’ll actually use
A practical way to start using verbs without getting stuck in conjugation tables.
What matters most
Start with verbs that let you communicate immediately.
- No verb conjugation for person/tense. Use time words: kemarin (yesterday), besok (tomorrow).
- Common affixes change meaning (me-, di-, ber-).
Saya pergi besok.
I go tomorrow.
Saya pergi kemarin.
I went yesterday.
Saya di sini.
I am here.
Saya mau air.
I want water.
Saya tidak mengerti.
I don't understand.
