What matters most
Start with verbs that let you communicate immediately.
- Verbs don’t change by person. Conjugation is about tense/politeness.
- Start with ます-form: 話します, 行きます, 食べます.

Ikimasu
I go / I will go.
行きました。
Ikimashita
I went.
ここにいます。
Koko ni imasu
I am here.
水がほしいです。
Mizu ga hoshii desu
I want water.
