🇳🇱 Dutch
Nederlands • Latin
Big idea: V2 word order (and ‘verb-last’ in subordinate clauses): Main clause (V2)
Dutch keeps the finite verb 2nd in main clauses, but pushes it to the end in many subordinate clauses.
Main clause (V2)
Both are correct: the verb stays 2nd.
- Ik ga vandaag naar huis.
- Vandaag ga ik naar huis.
Ik ga vandaag naar huis.
I go home today.
Vandaag ga ik naar huis.
Today I go home.
