Big idea: V2 word order (and ‘verb-last’ in subordinate clauses): Subordinate clause (verb-last)
Dutch keeps the finite verb 2nd in main clauses, but pushes it to the end in many subordinate clauses.
Subordinate clause (verb-last)
After words like dat (that), the verb often goes to the end.
- Ik denk dat ik vandaag naar huis ga.
Ik denk dat ik vandaag naar huis ga.
I think that I go home today.
