Pronouns you actually use (I / you / we)

Choose the right ‘you’, and get comfortable with the most common pronoun patterns.

What to know

These are the patterns that matter most at beginner level.

  • Ty = informal ‘you’. Pan/Pani = polite ‘you’.
  • Polish has cases and verb aspect — learn patterns through phrases, not tables.
  • Stress is usually on the second-to-last syllable (helpful for pronunciation).
Czy Pan mówi po angielsku?
Do you speak English? (polite)
Czy mówisz po angielsku?
Do you speak English?
Jestem tutaj.
I am here.
Chcę wody.
I want water. (genitive)
Nie rozumiem.

Gdzie jest toaleta?
Where is the toilet?
To jest mój przyjaciel.

Practice tip

Take one sentence and swap the subject: I → you → we.

  • Say it slowly first, then at normal speed.
  • If the verb changes, learn the ‘you’ form as a pair.
