Noun phrases

Learn noun phrases as chunks you can reuse in conversation.

  • Two main genders: en-words and ett-words.
  • Definite form is often a suffix: en bil → bilen, ett hus → huset.
  • With adjectives, Swedish often uses both a separate article and the suffix: den stora bilen.
  • Articles are high frequency — learn nouns together with their article (or marker).
  • Treat common phrases as single chunks.

a car / the car
ett hus / huset
a house / the house
