Word order basics
Where the verb usually goes, and what changes it.
Typical pattern
Mandarin is typically SVO and is topic-prominent; time/place often comes early in a sentence.
How to practice
Use short sentences first. If you’re unsure, copy a native-like pattern from the Speaking tab and swap one word at a time.
- Start with 3-word sentences (I / want / water).
- Record yourself, then slow down TTS and compare rhythm.
- Keep a notebook of 5 sentence patterns you can reuse.
