Verbs: the present tense you’ll actually use
A practical way to start using verbs without getting stuck in conjugation tables.
What matters most
Start with verbs that let you communicate immediately.
- Use time words (今天/昨天/明天) + verb.
- 了 (le) often marks a completed action.
我买了水。
Wǒ mǎi le shuǐ
I bought water.
我今天去。
Wǒ jīntiān qù
I go today.
我在这里。
Wǒ zài zhèlǐ
I am here.
我想要水。
Wǒ xiǎng yào shuǐ
