Word order basics

Where the verb usually goes, and what changes it.

Typical pattern

Spanish is generally SVO, but subject pronouns are often omitted because the verb ending shows the subject.

How to practice

Use short sentences first. If you’re unsure, copy a native-like pattern from the Speaking tab and swap one word at a time.

  • Start with 3-word sentences (I / want / water).
  • Record yourself, then slow down TTS and compare rhythm.
  • Keep a notebook of 5 sentence patterns you can reuse.
