Big idea: Postpositions + the oblique form (and a taste of ने): practice + mini‑quiz
Practice the big idea with drills and a longer quiz based on real examples.
Postpositions: noun + postposition
Think of postpositions as ‘prepositions that come after’. Learn them as chunks.
- घर में (in the house)
- स्कूल से (from school)
- दोस्त के साथ (with a friend)
मैं घर में हूँ।
main ghar mein hoon
I am in the house.
मैं स्कूल से हूँ।
main school se hoon
I am from school.
Ergative marker ने (super common in past actions)
Many past transitive sentences use ने on the doer. Don’t memorize all rules—start by recognizing the pattern.
- मैंने चाय पी। (I drank tea.)
- आपने क्या किया? (What did you do?)
- You’ll see verb agreement patterns—learn them through examples.
मैंने चाय पी।
maine chai pi
I drank tea.
आपने क्या किया?
aapne kya kiya
What did you do? (formal)
