Big idea: Postpositions + the oblique form (and a taste of ने): Ergative marker ने (super common in past actions)

Hindi uses postpositions (में/पर/से/को/के…) after nouns, often requiring an “oblique” noun/pronoun form.

Ergative marker ने (super common in past actions)

Many past transitive sentences use ने on the doer. Don’t memorize all rules—start by recognizing the pattern.

  • मैंने चाय पी। (I drank tea.)
  • आपने क्या किया? (What did you do?)
  • You’ll see verb agreement patterns—learn them through examples.
मैंने चाय पी।
maine chai pi
I drank tea.
आपने क्या किया?
aapne kya kiya
What did you do? (formal)
